DB.Tech, Kollam conducted a guest class and an awareness programme about vegetable cultivation practices on 27/8/2014 was handled by Mr.Shaji (Asst Agricultural officer) and Ms. Sneha S Mohan from Agricultural Department. In this session they explained transplanted (chilli, Amaranthus, Brinjal) and direct sown (Bhindi, cucurbitaceous vegetables, cowpea) vegetable crops. Our students were interested this session and they have lot of resourceful doubts. After the session there was a question hour and all students responded carefully to all the questions.

They explained mainly of organic preparations, seed saving and seed treatment, nutrient management techniques, natural pet repellents etc.

• Organic formulations for pest and disease management
• Nutrient management
• Seed treatment and seed conservation
The classes on vegetable cultivation practices were taken for 1 cent. The seed rate and organic fertilizer application were mentioned for each vegetable crop. Awareness on bio control agents and its application were described. The Cultivation practices in grow bags were also presented. Finally leaflets and seed kits were distributed to students. They interacted with each students and which made the candidates to enquire more about vegetable cultivation . The session was very valuable and which was very helpful to the trainees to make their self vegetable cultivation.
