Fishermen Community Development Programme (FCDP) has been in the development sector of fisher folk community of Kollam for the last 40 years. One of the goals of FCDP is to enable sustained economic security of the poor especially the women and youth from low-income households of fishermen community. The empowerment of Women and youth among the fisher folk community through Education, Health and Livelihood Promotion

in the coastal district of Kollam in the Kerala state was begun to strengthen the existing systems and structures of FCDP established for the development of the fisher folk community and enhance their skill and education level in order to help the people to leverage the resources from government and financial institutions for their livelihood development. The project also provides primary health care services for the neediest people living in the coastal villages by strengthening the already existing primary health centre near the coastal area.

Promotion of Micro Credit Programmes for Livelihood Projects
- Credit disbursement as revolving fund for the SHG members for the micro credit programme

Capacity Building for Strengthening the Micro Credit Programme
- Orientation & Awareness classes for self help groups
- Training to the leaders of self help groups
- Get together & Market Mela of all the groups
- Training for the staff of the project
- Organization Development Programme

Community Health Promotion
- The WYEP project intends to support and maintain the community health centre in order to provide primary health services for the poor fisher folk community in the coastal villages. The project also proposes to use preventive and curative health programmes by organizing medical camps, health education, etc. Medical assistance was also provided to patients suffering from severe illness and financially the most vulnerable among the community
