Industrial visit

An industrial visit to Lulu Mall on 30th October 2015 by the students of Retail Management & BPO of DB TECH, Kollam with three faculty members (Ms.Shahira S.S, Mrs. Smitha R R, Mr. Hevin V ). The bus departed at 6 A.M and reached Lulu Mall at 10.30 A.M. The company is situated at Edapalli, Kochi, Ernakulum.

Lulu Mall is the largest shopping mall in India situated in the city of Kochi. Spanning 17 acres and with a total retail floor area of 1.7 million square feet, it is the 80th largest shopping mall in World. The mall was opened in March 2013 and contains more than 215 outlets including food courts, restaurants, family entertainment zones, a multiplex, ice skating rink and bowling alley. The estimated cost for this project is more than INR 16 billion. The property is owned and managed by Lulu Group. Lulu Hypermarket, on the ground floor is the largest hypermarket in India, covering an area of 2 lakh sq. ft. It sells a wide variety of foods, including frozen foods, canned foods, fruits and vegetables, meat and poultry items, bakery items, and hot food counters. The other anchor stores include Lulu Fashion Store, Lulu Connect, Lulu Celebrate, PVR Cinemas and Sparkys.The mini departmental stores at the mall include Westside and Marks & Spencer.

All the students were divided in a group of three. First, second ,third group accompanied by Mr. Hevin V (Trainer- Communicative English), Ms. Shahira S S (Trainer-Retail ), Mrs. Smitha R R( Trainer- BPO)respectively.

Our trainees were inspired to take up the jobs as they were pleased by the pleasant behavior of the staff. The executive look and the way they carry out things attracted them to join the firm. Calm and quiet atmosphere charmed them. Though they were afraid initially they managed to mingle enthusiastically

Ms. Shahira explained about Retail Sector. Our trainees got valuable information about Retail Marketing. It was really informative and useful. We could see the working staff really concentrated.. It’s a well-established firm in Kochi. It’s a leading shopping mall in Kochi, which contains many shops. It was a wonderful experience for our trainees. They were eager to examine all sections. It was an enjoyable trip. Everyone wanted to prolong the day. As the day retrieved they longed for another one.
