The 'International Women's Day was celebrated on Monday, March 8, 2021, at Rotary Hall, Kollam under the auspices of the Theeradesa Mahila Society (TMS) and Fishermen Community Development Programme (FCDP) Kollam.
The public meeting hosted eminent personalities from the political and social spheres.
Mrs Prasanna Ernest, Mayor of Kollam inaugurated the Women's Day celebration.
Mrs Agnes John, President, TMS, presided over the function. Rev. Fr. Jose Koyikkal honoured the COVID warriors of different departments as an appreciation for their meritorious work during COVID - 19 pandemic. Shri. R Rajeev, RTO, Kollam distributed licenses to those who have completed auto-rickshaw training. Former Mayor Honey Benjamin released a brochure on COVID activities led by FCDP & TMS. Meditech Laboratory Director Shri. K Chandrakumar inaugurated the 'Santhanam health cards', which will be beneficial for cancer and kidney patients in terms of discounts in medical tests.
Fr. Sunny Uppan, Rector, Vicar of St. Stephen's Church, honoured the Councilors, health workers, Asha workers, Anganwadi workers and Covid volunteers from the coastal areas of Pallithottam, Vadi, Port-Kollam, Eravipuram and Mundakkal, who worked in Covid prevention activities with mementos.
