Self-Defence and Empowerment among Coastal Youth of Kollam

FCDP & TMS in collaboration with Crime Branch Department, Kollam (Nirbhaya Cell) on 2nd October held the first session for our newly established Don Bosco Youth Forum at FCDP Hall, Pallithottam. Mrs. Rajeena, Senior Civil Police Officer, Kollam City Police inaugurated the programme. The program aims at the empowerment of the adolescent girls' practical skills to reduce risks to their safety as well as to build self-confidence and a sturdy foundation for personal growth for life in the society. The programme also intends to make the adolescent girls to act against the violence happening against women and children. The chaotic and cramped environment frequently proves exceptionally difficult for women, especially those who are single, alone or underage. The civil Police team materialized one of the most effective ways to educate the adolescent girls in self-defence, whilst providing a nurturing environment to encourage their development as individuals and to find their own voices.
