An awareness program on Blood Donation was held at DB Tech Kollam on 18 th June, 2015). Dr. Rooba George & Mrs. Sheeja were the eminent speakers in the program. Dr. Rooba (In Charge- Blood Bank, Bishop Benziger Hospital) imparted the knowledge and information with trainees regarding Blood Donation. Information like, how blood donation saves lives, misunderstanding about it and the medical treatments of donating blood etc.
They explained that every time you donate blood, you are saving lives. Blood cannot be manufactured, and there is no substitute for it. It is in constant demand for accident victims, hemophiliacs, surgeries, infants, patients battling cancer and more. In addition, blood supplies need to be replenished constantly, as blood products have a short shelf life. With blood shortages occurring worldwide, it is important to create a network of young blood donors who commit to donating regularly.
Mrs.Sheeja (Nursing In-Charge, Bishop Benziger Hospital) Conducted the session through a PPT and some videos. Which was very valuable and some of our students clarified doubts also. At last most of our students expressed their willingness to donating Blood. The hospital team is very happy with our students and they promised that they will give a Certificate to our students from the Blood bank for their Social Responsibility.
