Support for online education

Date : 19th June, 2020

FCDP and TMS entered another phase of Covid relief activities today. In a simple ceremony held today (19th June 2020) Mr Devarajan (Circle Inspector, Janamaithri police, Pallithottam), handed over a TV to a family of three students at Pallithottam. It may be noted that there are a number of students who do not have TVs or mobile phones in their homes and hence cannot attend online classes. In an effort to reduce the digital divide and to lend a helping hand to the deserving students FCDP with the support of benefactors and well-wishers is working to support the financially disadvantaged who have no means of access to electronic media. Present at the function were Dr Sindha Mendez (Chair person, FCDP), Mrs Agnes PP ((President, TMS) and the Co-ordinators of FCDP and TMS. Speaking on the occasion, Fr. Joby Sebastian (Director, FCDP & TMS) highlighted that this was the beginning of a new initiative to facilitate access to online classes. He thanked the benefactor who gave the TV and the cable operator for his contribution. It is hoped that during the coming days FCDP will be able to provide TVs or phones to the remaining families of deserving students and also network with others to support families of NRIs who are without jobs abroad and help obtain jobs for the unemployed people.
